Steer-by-wire (SBW)
Discover the SBW
Steer-by-wire (SBW) technology will be a key component in modern vehicle structure, allowing freedom in design and new functions.
A patented low detent torque brushless motor is associated with a planetary reducer. Thanks to gear mechanical play control and magnetic design optimization, no torque variation or backlash are present at the handwheel level in order to keep driver feeling as in legacy mechanical systems.
As an option, mechanical end-stop can be added in the gearbox with more than 1 handwheel turn stroke.
Shape can be optimized for each specification.
Optimized motor control software unlocks smoother operation, smarter diagnostics, and optimized performance across all operating conditions.
With electronics fully integrated, installation becomes simpler, more compact, and more reliable.
Motor busbars could be redundant allowing fully dual coil connections, and E/E Architecture could be designed in accordance with ASIL-D decomposition for Steer-by-Wire System
Torque and position sensors are intergraded at the handwheel shaft level, with electrical redundancy if required. If needed, true-power-on position sensor can be implemented, even on more than 1 handwheel turn.
