Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) are increasingly present in modern cars and trucks. These systems are using optical or LIDAR sensors and need to stay clean for good efficiency. We developed an air blower dedicated to blowing an air curtain around a camera lens or any other system that needs to stay clean, to blow away any droplet of water or any dust particle to keep it clean at any time. The air flux can be adapted to the need, depending on the vehicle speed to consume as little power as required to keep the sensor free of pollution. The blower, motor and driver are all combined in a single package to be set as close as possible to the point of use for maximum compactness and efficiency.
The system can blow an air curtain along the sensor lens to protect a camera lens or any other sensor from splashes and blow away any existing droplets.
Thanks to its compactness, the system can be integrated as close to the application as possible for a more efficient cleaning.
The system adapts the air flow to the need to protect from bigger splashes at higher speeds. At lower speed the power consumption of the blower motor is lower.
The blower can blow enough air around a rear view mirror camera lens to protect it from water splashes at a car speed up to 150km/h.
